The Apple of Dispute and the War

The "apple of discord" is a euphemism for the core, kernel, or crux of an argument, or for a small matter that could lead to a bigger dispute.

An apple of discord is a reference to the Golden Apple of Discord which, according to Greek mythology, the goddess Eris said that she would give "the fairest" at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, sparking a vanity-fueled dispute between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite that eventually led to the Trojan War.

The book is about ten tortured marriages. Some are fiction and some are real. I have tried to give it a classic touch and that is why I have used Greek floral pattern, sepia torn paper effect and rich and deep colour schemes.

Cultural Conflict

Globalization has leveled the world. Cultures are emerging. Everyday we meet with people of other countries, of another generation, social class etc. People from other cultures often act in a way that puzzle us. To these people, of course, we are the ones who behave in a surprising manner. The one thing that differentiate us is our culture. Our cultures are deeply-rooted and our unconscious values make us to act in a certain way and therefore, often it lead us to consider something normal what others think abnormal, as polite what to others is rude, and as rational what others find irrational.

One important thing about culture is that it keep changing and changes in culture also change our lives. Cultures are more than language, dress, custom etc. it is like a multi-layered bonding of a group of people. It is like a information that my group, society knows but others don't. It is like something that always with us and giving us ideas about judgment.

I think the only way to resolve any cultural conflict is that everybody accept the global culture. But what is a GLOBAL CULTURE?

Popular Culture and its Study: Cultural Studies

Cultural Studies has fascinated many people around the globe. Before designing the cover I read the complete book to understand the subject. I liked the way this book is written. Both the theory and practice of cultural studies are introduced in this book. For me the good thing is that the author liked the final design and also appreciate my job in the acknowledgments of the book. Showing here different options and final cover design.

Traditional vs. Digital Methods of Designing

Technology has changed the way we work. Some of the advantages of technology in designing are:
  • One of the great advantages of computer-generated art is the time (and therefore money) saved in its production.
  • Changes and duplications may take only a mouse click.
  • Multiple elements can he brought together easily the initial concept may quickly become the final product.
However, there are cases in which you are better off using non-electronic media and techniques. For instance, you may wish to create a brush stroke pattern that would require skills or software you don't possess, or would simply require more time to generate electronically than traditionally. In such a case, it would make sense simply to scan hand-drawn art. Or you may want a printed effect that would he awkward or time-consuming to achieve by your own manipulation of digital art, but that could he achieved very simply at the stripping stage of film production.

Some tasks for which the computer clearly has the edge are
  • Page layout
  • Technical drawing
  • Photo retouching and manipulation
  • Three-dimensional rendering
  • Presentations, animation, and multimedia projects.
Other areas that are more of a judgment call are freehand drawing and calligraphy and conventional (as opposed to digital) photography. In some cases, a combination of approaches may work best.

COLOURS

What is colour: Colour is simply light of different wavelengths and frequencies and light is just one form of energy that we can actually see that is made up from photons. we are all surrounded by electromagnetic waves of energy of which colour is just a small part.

Why use colours:
We are in a world where colour dominates our lives, from reading signs on the road to seeing if fruit is ripe to eat. It affects our moods - blue is calming - red can make us tense. We use and experience colour everyday in our lives without even appreciating it. Colours does a lot of useful things to help communicate information. First, it attracts people's attention. Hotter, brighter colours attract attention more, and cooler, darker colours attract it less. Secondly, people tend to relate similar colours and separate colours that are different. You can use this in your graphics to help people relate similar ideas by colour coding them. Thirdly, colour can help people learn what something looks like so they can recognize it again. Fourthly, most people like colours and simply enjoy the presentation more if you use it.

Wallpaper LG KP500 (Cookie)

Recently I bought this new phone LG Cookie. It is an amazing tablet phone with exciting features. It has the latest touch screen technology, with auto rotation display, and shifts images and documents for easier viewing. When it is held horizontally the QWERTY keyboard slides into view on the screen. The LG KP500 Cookie has a 3 megapixel camera and a concealed styler which enables you to draw on the photos. This phone has technology for recognizing handwriting which allows the user to write memos and text message easily. Though it comes with many wallpapers but I have made some interesting wallpapers and sharing here for download. Just click the image to enlarge it and save it in your system.

The Dragon and the Elephant

It is always fun and challenge to work on any promotional material. Fun because you have more freedom and challenge because your work will be used in marketing, branding, advertising and distributing so it has to be more appealing and relevant to the product/service.

I think your work should answer the unasked question of customer. In other words, your work should reflect the benefits of the product/service. I am displaying here a poster and brochure that I designed for a book. Hope you like it.

Calm is all Nature as a Resting Wheel

Calm is all nature as a resting wheel.
The kine are couched upon the dewy grass;
The horse alone, seen dimly as I pass,
Is cropping audibly his later meal:
Dark is the ground; a slumber seems to steal
O'er vale, and mountain, and the starless sky.
Now, in this blank of things, a harmony,
Home-felt, and home-created, comes to heal
That grief for which the senses still supply
Fresh food; for only then, when memory
Is hushed, am I at rest. My Friends! restrain
Those busy cares that would allay my pain;
Oh! leave me to myself, nor let me feel
The officious touch that makes me droop again.
